Divemaster – how it worksBook My Divemaster Course
THIS IS THE BIG ONE!
The Divemaster course is the first step on PADI’s professional ladder. Your first task it to develop your diving knowledge and diving skills up to instructor level. The topics include physics, physiology, risk management and the programs that a Divemaster can conduct independently.
Then we train you how to assist an instructor during the teaching of PADI courses, in both open and confined water training. An important part of this segment is to develop your dive demonstration skills, and the anticipation of both instructor and student needs. Perhaps most importantly this section highlights the role of a Divemaster in helping students to overcome learning difficulties. This segment is of particular relevance to those Divemaster trainees who intend to continue to instructor level.
You need to be fit and healthy to undertake the PADI Divemaster course, so please check out the medical form below. Make sure that you can answer ‘No’ to all the questions on the first page. If you need to answer ‘Yes’ to any of the questions, print out the form, and seek the advice of your doctor. If he declares you fit to dive, please get him or her to fill out the form and then bring it with you when you visit. The divemaster course is energetic, and there are several swim test that you must complete. It pays dividends if you take plenty of exercise before attending this course.Medical Statement PDF
You will also learn how to guide qualified divers, which in itself is a huge topic!
During 2016 the sea has washed away some of the sand from the lower parts of the beach. This has uncovered some of the rocks below and has made the beach more difficult to cross in bare feet. So I strongly advise participants to bring a pair of flip flops to wear into the water until we are up to our chests. You can then float, take of your flip flops and put on your fins.
Since this qualification opens up the potential to be employed anywhere in the world you must give it the time and commitment it demands. To be a fully operational member of a dive operating team is a huge job. You should be able to meet and greet customers at the facility. Make sure the paperwork is correctly completed and filed. Guide and offer advice or assistance when customers ask questions. This responsibility extends to end of the customers visit, by ensuring that the financial side of the transaction in in order, and seeing that the customers leaves with a smile and happy memories!
We will develop your attitude, judgement, and professionalism, with particular emphasis on the importance of a Divemaster as a role model for other divers.
This is the foundation course leading to the Assistant Instructor and Instructor courses and if you elect to do the internship, it is the best value diving you will ever get!!
