This Month’s Ferry Schedule – November 2017.

Unfortunately I have not been able to get this yet. I will post it as soon as I can.

This is the ferry schedule for November 2017 for the Bluewater Express service running between Tanjung Gemok and Tioman Island.

For those that don’t know, Tanjung Gemok is a small town north of Mersing. It is about half an hour by car, roughly 30 miles. Driving there is simple. There is a car park, and buses run from Mersing, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. If you are catching the bus from Kuala Lumpur make sure that the bus goes via Rompin.

Bluewater currently advise their customers to be at the Tanjung Gemok ferry terminal at least half an hour in advance of the schedule when departing.

Tanjung Gemok ferry terminal was built around fifteen years ago and is much more pleasant than Mersing. The layout makes better sense and the toilets are much better. There are a couple of food and drink outlets with a few shops selling T-shirts and the like. There are some small restaurants just outside the compound which serve delicious food!

For the return journey from Salang you are currently advised to be at the jetty at least half an hour before the published time. However, flexi-time is normal practice here, so I recommend you bring a book and some patience! When I come back I normally hang out in one of the restaurants close to the jetty and wait in comfort.

You are welcome to download this page, and share it with any of your friends and dive buddies who are planing to visit Tioman Island.

The ferry from Tanjung Gemok to Tioman is not running during February. It will return in March and I will post the schedule as soon as I get it. Meanwhile there is a ferry service running out of Mersing. I will be posting February’s schedule on Sunday. If you need it before then please go to my contact page and email me. 3. Hi,

may i ask if you know any private charter boat from tanjung gemuk or mersing to tioman island?

We are planning to go there with 10 adults and 16 kids it would be convenient and safe for the kids to travel in a not crowded ferry.

Thank for the help in advance

I don’t I am afraid. All I can suggest is to head to the dock and ask around – it is not unknown!

  6. Can you tell me which Ferry Boat Company we have to take to get to the Island of Tioman on april 23rd, 2017? At what time the
Ferry Boat is leaving from where to Tioman?

    1. Author

The ferry company is called Bluewater. They travel to Tioman from two departure point: Mersing and Tanjung Gemok. I can’t tell you the times since the schedule is not published until mid way through the previous month. Have fun!

  7. This is really helpful, since their schedule is nowhere else on the internet! 🙂

Facing a bit of a dilemma here, because the date we are visiting (22nd Jan), the ferry departs at 4.30 PM, which is kind of late. Do you know if there are private speedboats or chartered ferries (safe ones, of course), who can hired from Mersing to take us to Tioman? Appreciate any advice/numbers, if you have them. And thanks again for shedding some light on the schedule..

    1. Author

I don’t know of other ferries but there are speed boats. If you can get one to take you out it will be very expensive!! But I don’t know any personally and I have never used one. My advice is to put up with inconvenient ferry times!

  8. Dear,

We are considering coming to Tioman end of February (most likely Feb 28th) – I know it’s hard to predict weather, but does monsoon already ends end of February, or is it still to expect rough weather at that time?

    Thanks,
    Bostjan

    1. Author

The monsoon normally is normally finished by the end of January so you should be okay by the end of February – but no guarantees with the weather!!

      1. Author

February’s schedule is on the Next Month’s Schedule page but I will drop you an email with it attached right now!

    1. Author

I don’t have the schedule in front of me but I am pretty much certain that there is a ferry on 11.02.17. You need to go to the page ‘Next Months Ferry Schedule for Mersing to Tioman’ and there it will be. On or around the first of the month I change over to this months’s page. But to save you the trouble I will send you an email with the schedule attached!

  9. Hello does anybody know where the ferry from Tanjung Gemok stops on Tioman? Does it go to Kampung Tekek and to Genting Jetty?
    Thanks for information.

    1. Author

Bluewater stops at them all but I don’t know about the other ferry companies. You would need to contact them direct.

So far only one of my guests has tried it and they liked it. I want to try it but since I live in Mersing there has to be a very good reason for me to travel up to Tanjung Gemok and so far that has not happened yet. They don’t publish a schedule which makes the booking process more complex and from my customers point of view they don’t automatically come to Salang – you have to specify it – so from my point of view they need to sharpen up a bit before I can recommend it.

      1. Cataferry operate 5 days a week except Tuesday and Thursday. ( this 27th June they are operate due to festival season)

Daily 8.00am from Tg Gemok is their fix and On time schedule.

        hope my info helps

  10. Hi guys !
I m planning my trip to to Tioman on the 25 june but when I want to book a ferry ticket the websites don’t propose me the same hours than those scheduled … I don’t get it
Any idea ? It is possible to go whitout booking at this periode ?
    Thank you in advance 🙂

      Hi Victor,

You must have a ticket at this time and preferably a room booked – it’s Hari Raya celebrating the end of Ramadan and one of the biggest holidays in Malaysia. There are at least two separate firms operating ferries to Tioman. I publish the schedule for Bluewater Ferries and as far as I know they don’t have a web site and so cannot accept web bookings. There are also several travel agents who do accept online bookings but I don’t know their sites. It sounds to me like you are on Cataferries web site. They don’t publish a schedule. I presume you select a date and they give you scheduling options. Hope this is helpful.

  11. Thank you for your answer !
I will have a closer look though

For the accommodation everything on internet is booked so I may change my destination… But I read on some travel blogs that you can find acoomodations without reservation, but it not very clear…

Do you know some place like Tioman which could be more accessible ?
My girlfriend is coming to visit me and I didn’t booked anything yet ^^
I didn’t realise that it would be so confusing haha

    Thank you

    Victor

There is no where else like Tioman. You can normally find some sort of accommodation in Salang, but without a booking there is obviously no guarantee. This is a huge holiday and everywhere in Malaysia will be busy! You really need to think ahead prior to these events. Good luck!

  13. Saya nk book tiket feri 18 dan 20hb 8, mcmne saya nk dptkn contct number?

  14. Is ferry running on 23rd & 24th November 2017 from TG Gamuk to tioman ? Kindly please tell . if not then what is the way to reach tioman on those dates ??

    1. Author

I expect a ferry will run, but we will not know until the schedule gets published later this month.

  15. How to contact Bluewater Ferries? What number is their counter at the jetty?

    1. Author

I’m sorry but I don’t know the number for Bluewater in Tanjung Gemok. The number for Mersing is 07 7994811/8518. If you phone them I guess they would have the number for Tanjung Gemok. Or you could go online to easybook.com

  16. We are travelling to Tioman from Singapore on Sunday 15 October, what is the best route to take? Do u have any advice on getting the bus from Singapore to Tanjung Gemok or Mersing? Which company is best to use, how long the journey is ect? Many thanks in advance for your help.

    1. Author

It is best to get a direct bus – easiest way to do customs, but I don’t know which firm it is. The next best way is to go to Queen ST. and take a cab to Larkin which is the bus dept for JB. From there it is easy to get buses to either location. The least best way to to catch a regular bus through but it is chaotic for getting through the border checks. Good luck!
